A Kericho Teacher’s Training College student will sit for her final examination on August after an aspiring MCA cleared her school fee, weeks after the college reopened.
Ms Antonet Bosibori from Ritibo in Kitutu Masaba constituency has been out of session after failing to clear an outstanding balance of Sh17,000, which was part of second term fee that was needed for her to sit for the final examination.
But on Monday, Mr Julius Nyachieo, a former councillor of Gesima and a fierce critic of the current MCA, Ken Atuti, cleared the money when he gave the student’s family a courtesy call.
“I learnt about the sad news from my friends and it was hard for me to watch someone miss crucial exams because of the small amount of money. I want this region to produce more teachers and I hope she will pass and be a role model to others,” he said.
“We are starting a programme soon of contributing money that can be used to deal with such cases for students who are in the institutions of higher learning. I will make everyone know when all is ready,” he added.
Ms Bosibori lauded the former leader and promised to work hard in her final papers.
“I am really happy with this generous contribution. At least I will be able to sit for my final exam and I am absolutely sure of doing well. The three weeks I have been out of session will not really matter,” she said.
