Dolal said that he is confident Garissa voters will elect him, warning his rivals who are eyeing the seat come the next polls to prepare for a resounding defeat.

Speaking during his campaign in his constituency, the aspirant said ODM enjoys massive support, and they will elect him in the area where National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale is the current MP.

“Our resolve remains that after August 8 we have a new MP for Garissa Township. It doesn’t matter what formula we shall use,” he said.

Dolal also denied rumours on social media that he has stepped down for Farah Maalim who wants the parliamentary seat.

Cord leader Raila Odinga had endorsed Mr Dolal to run for Garissa Township MP which dealt a blow to Wiper deputy party leader Farah Maalim’s bid for the post.

Maalim moved from ODM to Wiper in a move viewed as a way of targeting the Kamba voters in Garissa Township.
