Mombasa governor hopeful Suleiman Shahbal has continued with his onslaught on Governor Hassan Joho’s style of leadership.
Speaking during the Jubilee Party rally at Tononoka grounds on Sunday, Shahbal who came second to Joho during the 2013 elections, claimed that the ODM Deputy Party leader is running the county like its his personal property. He added that majority of the tribes that live in the coastal city haven’t been given an opportunity to serve in the county administration, something he says is a hindrance to cohesion in the ethnically diverse county.According to Shahbal, who was recently endorsed to take on Joho during the August poll on a Jubilee Party ticket, Mombasa needs a leader with a proven record in matters administration, a sentiment that was echoed by his running mate former Kisauni MP Ananiah Mwaboza who claimed that Joho’s administration has failed the county. With a voting population of over 0.4 million voters, the race for the Mombasa County Governor' seat is expected to be one of the most hotly contested, a battle that is amplified by Jubilee Party's interest to run the city.
