Kilifi Women Representative aspirant Juliet Riziki has downplayed allegations that she is scouting to be Governor Amason Kingi’s running mate as he seeks to defend his seat in the forthcoming general election.
The reports were announced by a social media group.
Speaking during an exclusive interview with Baraka FM, Riziki, who is contesting as an Independent candidate, said Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) deputy chairman Teddy Mwambire contacted her after reports emerged that she had been picked as Kingi’s running mate.
“I was called by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Deputy Chairman Teddy Mwambire after a post with a designed poster surfaced online and was sent to different Kilifi social media platforms asserting I was the chosen running mate for Mr Kingi,” said Riziki, as quoted by the daily.
“I was dazed to see the posters and some analysis on how the governor was planning to settle on me,” she added.
Riziki asked her supporters to ignore the speculations adding that she is still in the race to replace Women Rep Aisha Jumwa, who is eying the Malindi MP seat.
“People took advantage of my silence to cook rumours,” said Riziki.
