Ogeto was trolled on official whatsap group of Nyamira County for allegedly defrauding the family of the Late Perminas Nyakundi, a former medical student at Moi University who succumbed to cancer in India in 2014.

However, Ogeto has dismissed the allegations as ‘malicious and primitive’, and blamed the resurfacing of the matter to his political popularity.

“I am shocked that our people can accuse me of taking millions of shillings that we collected for the treatment of Perminas (Nyakundi). The allegations are malicious and primitive which I cannot succumb to,” he said during Friday’s interview.

“I know some of our youths are being used by some politicians to tarnish my reputation due to my political influence in Kitutu Masaba,” he added.

Ogeto said the expenditures of the collection was in the custody of the deceased's family, and questioned the authenticity of the allegations given he has reportedly never received complaints from the family.

“Whatever we collected is in the custody of the family including all the expenditures. I have never received a formal complaint from the family of the deceased or even the alleged amount that I defrauded them,” he added.

“It’s said that our people are being used by politicians to trivialize sensitive matters. They are not saying the amount that I allegedly stole therefore I am concerned with the credibility of the allegations,” he said.

According to the transcript obtained by the reporter from the whatsapp group, none of the complainants has disclosed the alleged amount of money that was lost under the supervision of Ogeto out of the Sh5 milliion that was collected.
