An independent candidate who wanted to use miraa as his symbol has been given a go-ahead by the registrar of political parties.
Nyambene Miraa Traders Association (Nyamita) spokesman Kimathi Munjuri had protested that the registrar still regarded miraa as a drug.
He argued that Miraa had been recognized as a crop.
Registrar of Political Parties Lucy Ndung’u on Thursday approved a miraa symbol presented by Mr Elijah Kimathi, who is eyeing the Akachiu Ward seat.
This is after local media highlighted the concerns raised by the lobby.
