Changamwe MP aspirant Abdi Daib has lashed out at Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, accusing him of having misplaced priorities. Daib accused Joho of failing to address issues affecting residents and instead focusing on irrelevant things.“The county government of Mombasa values the electorate only when it comes to seeking votes and not during other times,” he said. Daib urged residents to be on the lookout for hypocritical leaders, saying they have no political future.Speaking on Thursday when he donated blankets and mattresses to flood victims at Chaani social hall in Changamwe, Daib also launched a scathing attack on the incumbent, MP Omar Mwinyi. He accused the MP of failing to assist constituents in their time of need, despite them voting for him in 2013. The MP aspirant challenged the county government to invest in issues that directly affect the people. He criticized Joho for flying in musicians for concerts while residents continue to suffer. He asked the county government to come up with measures that will assist in mitigating perennial floods in the Coastal town. “Let the county government come up with strict laws to ensure houses are constructed with proper planning,” he said.Daib further faulted the Joho-led administration for poor planning and lack of working drainage systems in the county.“Corruption has led to poor planning of houses and infrastructure which has resulted in the blockage of the drainage system,” he said.
