Politicians eyeing parliamentary and ward representative seats in the August 8 general election must now have a degree from a recognised university before they are cleared by the IEBC to vie.These are among the new changes contained in the controversial Election Laws (Amendment) Bill 2016 signed into law by President Uhuru on Monday."Besides the complimentary voting mechanism, there are new insertions in the amended Bill including the requirement for MPs and MCAs to have a degree from a recognised university from before they can seek being elected into office," a statement by the PSCU stated.The Bill was signed into law by the Head of State after the approval of both the National Assembly and the Senate.
