The County Assembly of Uasin Gishu has adjourned for eight days beginning Wednesday, November 1.
The adjournment comes just a day after it resumed its sittings following a 10-day recess to allow members campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta ahead of the just concluded repeat presidential election.
While moving the motion, Assembly's deputy majority whip Gilbert Tenai said the adjournment is meant to allow members to participate in the ongoing vetting process of the county executive committee members.
"The vetting process touches on the county's performance and it will be good if all of us takes part in that process," said Tenai, the Cheptiret/Kipchamo MCA.
Kapsoya MCA Kirwa Kemboi seconded the motion which was overwhelmingly supported by other MCAs who were present.
The vetting process that began on Monday is being conducted by the assembly's committee on appointment chaired by Speaker David Kiplagat but other MCA's who are not members are allowed to attend as friends of the committee.
The Assembly will resume sittings on Thursday, November 9 at 2.30pm where its widely expected that report on the CeC vetting process will be tabled for debating and approval or rejection of the nominees.
