The Uasin Gishu County Assembly has adjourned for 41 days to enable MCAs conduct development projects in their wards.
According to the Leader of Majority Josphat Lowoi, the recess period commences on December 1, 2016 to January 14, 2017.
Normally, the MCAs have been going on recess from December 1, to February 14.
"We decided to shorten our holiday for us to transact pending bussinesses such as passing of the Finance Bill which is supposed to be complete by March. We want to complete house business before cam," said Lowoi.
“We have had a very successful year and the recess will give MCAs an opportunity to relax and engage with their families and constituents before resuming next year,” he added.
Speaking to journalists at the County Assembly buildings, he said the laws enacted will help streamline operations of the County government.
"We are poised to ensure our electorates get quality services by passing legislations that will improve their livelihoods," he said, Thursday.
He urged MCAs to play their oversight role by ensuring the executive accounting of every single cent in their possession.
“We must ensure we use resources belonging to the people in a transparent manner."
