The Kisumu County Assembly passed a Sh717.2 million supplementary budget, with aims to to pay contractors who were not paid since 2015.
This is after a report was tabled before the Assembly by the executive requesting for approval of the said amount, in June.
Some of the activities to be funded by the supplementary budget include: Sh72.1 million for Roads Maintenance Fuel Levy all owed to various contractors and Sh482.8 million for development projects.
Sh17.4 million will go towards the controversial County Assembly Provident Fund Transfers (Lap Fund), various officers will benefit from Sh73.7 million County executive gratuity provisions, while the rest of the amount will be set aside for recurrent expenditure.
Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital will receive Sh2.6 million, Sh52 million for supply of drugs, Sh9.6 for free maternity services, while Sh6.6 million will cater for user fees in various health centers and dispensaries across the County.
