An Eldoret based Human rights organization has written a complaint letter to the Uasin Gishu County Assembly seeking investigations into claims that the county enforcement officers have been harassing traders.

The Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in the letter said it had received numerous complaints from the traders over arbitrary arrests, extortion and being leveled with unlawful allegations.

The organization in the letter want the Assembly to look into the matter with urgency reiterating that citizens in the county have equal rights.

"I have received a complaint letter for the organization who want allegations against the county enforcement officers looked into," noted Uasin Gishu County Assembly Deputy Speaker Hosea Lamai who chaired the Assembly's Tuesday sitting.

He directed that the matter be handled by both the Trade and Public Service Management Committees.

"The two committees should look into the complaint as outlined in this letter with urgency and table a report over the matter to this house as soon as possible," noted Lamai who is also the Kapsaos MCA.
