Uasin Gishu County Assembly Majority Leader Josphat Lowoi has said that Uasin Gishu County Assembly will be tabling a proposal to have the University of Eldoret VC Prof. Teresa Akenga removed from her position.
Lowoi said that they will present their formal complaints to the National Assembly Committee on Education that is having a sitting at the university.
“We have asked our County Assembly on education to take their submissions to the National Assembly Education Committee so that we can give them the real picture on the ground. This is a National Institution but it is in our county,” said Lowoi.
Lowoi said that the VC has divided the students along ethnic lines; something he said cannot be allowed to continue.
“If the VC continues to head the institution, as local leaders, we are worried that students will massacre each other and we will shoulder the blame as it will be said that we never talked,” he said.
The majority leader, who was addressing journalists in Eldoret today, Wednesday, asked the Ministry of Education to act decisively on the matter and prevent what he termed as an impending catastrophe.
