Kisii Governor James Ongwae has been urged to sign into law, a retirement benefit Bill that was passed by County Assembly.
On Thursday, the Assembly passed the Bill which aims at having former leaders including those who served at the defunct Kisii Municipality compensated.
The Bill also proposes that Governor, Deputy and MCAs who don't make it to in subsequent elections get send off package.
Addressing the press in Kisii town on Thursday former councilors led by their chairman Casper Gichana urged governor Ongwae to sign the bill into law to benefit former councilors and the current leaders.
"This is a good Bill and we request that the Governor signs it into law. We need to appreciate people who serve in leadership positions," said Chitago -Borabu MCA Albert Oino.
The Bill was supported by all MCAs without opposition and has been interpreted by a section of residents as a plot to 'illegally' pay leaders who fail.
