Police in Kitui County have launched investigations into an incident where an assistant chief's body was found hanging from a tree.

Kyuso Sub-Location Assistant Chief Mutindi Mwinzi's body was found hanging from a tree with nobody having an idea why he did so.

Speaking to Citizen, Kitui County Administration Police Commander Benson Wasike said they are yet to establish the cause of the deceased's action, or whether he was murdered and his body hanged on the tree.

Wasike further said that the police did not find a suicide note at the scene of the incident.

Mwinzi's body has already been removed from the tree and taken to Mwingi Level 4 Hospital Mortuary for post mortem as the police go on with investigations.
