The Thika District Businesses Association chairman (TDBA), Waweru Nderitu, has challenged the county of Kiambu to involve the public in the running of the county’s affairs.
Speaking on Wednesday at Thika Town during the preparation of the anticipated Thika Trade Fair, Waweru said that the public contribution to the growth of the county is of great importance. He added that public participation in the running of the county would enable the residents contribute to the growth of the county development.
“Public participation plays an important role in shaping the growth of the county in all the areas,” said Waweru.
He added that denying the residents the chance to express their views is contrary to the constitution which places the freedom of expression in the hands.
“Kiambu residents should be given a chance to express their views to the challenges facing them,” said Waweru.
He was reacting to the establishment of a law court over the weekend in Thika Town by the judiciary in conjunction with the County of Kiambu without public participation.
Although he noted that the court would speed the delivery of justice, he said that the public was supposed to be part of the decision marking.
