The Matatu Owners Association (MOA) has asked all Public Service Vehicles (PSV) in Mombasa to only play religious music during working hours.According to the Association’s Coast regional coordinator Salim Mbarak, matatus and buses should stop playing secular music which he noted, promotes pornography.“The music played in matatus nowadays is disturbing. It promotes pornography and is against the law,” said the MOA coordinator.Mbarak spoke to the Star in Mombasa on Tuesday.His remarks come as Muslims in the region observe the holy month of Ramadhan which is expected to end on Sunday or Monday depending on the sighting of the moon. Already, the government has gazetted Monday as a public holiday for Eid celebrations.
