Nakuru County Assembly Speaker Susan Kihika has called on the security agencies to protect individuals who tip them off on crime related issues.
Kihika said that security agencies should guarantee the patriotic citizens protection since they jeopardize their lives when giving such information.
She noted that lack of security for such persons had contributed greatly to members of public shying away from sharing information with security agencies hence frequent terror attacks.
“We are urging the government to ensure that there is adequate and proper security offered to the people and their families in case they give any information regarding terror. Lack of proper protection has contributed to people hiding information fearing for their lives,” said Kihika.
She was speaking during the burial of Governor Kinuthia Mbugua’s father in law, Phillip Munyungu, where she urged Kenyans to embrace Nyumba Kumi Initiative
“We must embrace Nyumba Kumi Initiative since it has proven effective. We need to know the people we reside with; this will enhance security,” added Kihika.
Kihika added that women in the county must also get adequately involved in the fight against terrorism.
“We are appealing to women not to withhold anything they know about terrorism but to help us fight the vice,” she added.
