At least 10 people were injured on Friday morning following a road accident at Nyakoe area along Kisii -Kisumu road after a 14-seater matatu they were traveling veered off the road and hit motorbikes parked at the roadside.

According to witnesses, the driver of the matatu was trying to escape hitting a boda-boda rider who was overtaking a vehicle that was coming from the opposite direction.

Ben Onsase, a rider said the matatu veered off the road causing the accident.

"We had parked our motorbikes at a stage at Kioge junction when the matatu rammed into the motorbike after the driver lost control. About 10 passengers who were in the vehicle sustained injuries," said Onsase.

Residents who arrived at the scene said few meters away from the accident scene is a corner and there is no bump.

"There is no slow bump to make the drivers to slow down once they approach the corner. NTSA should erect a bump to curb accidents in the future," stated Maurice Kimonge.

Injuries were rushed to various Kisii hospitals for treatment.
