The State has not deregistered the Atheists' Society in Kenya, Attorney-General Githu Muigai has told the court.
Speaking during the hearing of a case in which he has been sued by the society, Miugai denied deregistering the organisation after complaints by the clergy.
"The status right now is that they are suspended and not deregistered," he told the court on Wednesday.
Before Justice Chacha Mwita, the AG's office instead faulted the Society for failing to respond to their suspension letter as required by the Societies Act.
