Athi River town boda boda operators have been asked to observe personal hygiene so as to create and maintain good image alongside attracting more customers.
Addressing the operators at a meeting in Athi River town on Saturday, Athi River Boda Boda Sacco chairman, Isaiah Wambua, said majority of the operators were filthy hence scaring away customers.
"We as boda boda leaders are receiving several complaints about operators who have neglected their personal hygiene hence ruining the industry," said Wambua.
Wambua noted that some of the operators put on clothes for several days without changing them thereby resulting to stench that cannot be beard by clients.
He also noted that a group of bodaboda drivers are not bathing during this cold season.
The chairman lamented that such acts and behaviours have made several members of the public to develop negative attitudes towards those in bodaboda business.
Wambua threatened to mobilise responsible bodaboda drivers to wash those who are not observing personal hygiene.
