Pedestrians using Nairobi - Mombasa Highway and Nairobi - Namanga Road have been told to be more careful to avoid being victims of road accidents.
Addressing the press in Athi River town on Saturday, Athi resident George Kamau said several road accidents which involved pedestrians as victims can easily be avoided.
"Pedestrians can be own solutions to falling victims in road accidents on these roads if only they were more careful," said Kamau.
According to Kamau both motorists and pedestrians are to blame for high rates of accidents apparently experienced in the region.
Kamau said it is responsibility of every one using a road in a single day whether highway or not to observe all road usage rules and regulations.
He said pedestrians should always assume that all motorists on road are mad men therefore are careful not to be knocked down.
The resident called on pedestrians to also be cautious of boda boda operators who he said majority are always drunk thereby riding their motorbikes on pedestrian path leading to more accidents.
Kamau also urged the security agents from the region to be tough on motorists who disobey traffic rules and laws leading to accidents of innocent pedestrians.
