Addressing this writer at his Athi River office on Wednesday, the area deputy county commissioner Albert Kimathi said the government will not negotiate with the culprits arguing they had for along time defied requests from authorities to move to safer zones.

"We have severally appealed to people living in flooded areas in the sub-county to move out to safer zones since there is too much water in vain. I am now issuing an order for the victims of flooding to move out immediately, no more discussions on the matter," said Kimathi.

Kimathi said the victims had for a long time not been responding to the calls to move and therefore waited to be forced out, what security agents in the area are now ready for.

He said he had written official letters to all chiefs in the region to make sure all those affected by the floods move out immediately.

Kimathi said those people should move before his office takes eminent measures that they might not like.

"As a government, we do not know where they will move to since we do not have alternative homes for them. They are not, however, moving from their present homes permanently but only relocating temporarily for security purposes, their safety," said Kimathi.
