Juakali businessmen from Athi River town have urged the Kenya Power Company not to ration electricity in the region this Sunday.
Addressing the press in the town on Friday, the welders said the company was fond of switching electric lines off each Sunday thereby compromising their businesses.
"We know we cannot control operations of the electricity power provider, the Kenya Power Company but humbly request they consider our plight not to ration it this Sunday," said John Omuga.
Omuga who runs a workshop at Makadara Shopping Centre in Athi River town said he loses a lot when electricity goes off since he relies on it to conduct his business.
He said he had lost a number of long-time clients due to delays of delivering products because of power black-outs.
Omuga makes metal products ranging from doors, windows, steel furniture among other things.
Samson Otolo, a blacksmith in the town also expressed his disappointments to power outages.
Otolo said he always failed to hit his production targets each time the electricity goes off especially on Sundays during the rationing.
Last Sunday, there was no power in the town as from 9.00 am, it resumed at 6.30 in the evening.
Nancy Nyankera, a salonist in the town said it was difficult to run business whenever there were power rationing.
She said Kenya Power should revise its operational plans of denying the residents electricity on Sunday arguing that is when her business booms due to those making their hair ready to resume work on Monday.
Those who also complained about the black-outs include cyber cafe operators.
The traders said the company should be considerate and desist from rationing electricity in the town on Sundays.
