Matu who was among the longest serving administrators in Athi River Sub County received his promotion as a County AP Commander early in the year.
He is on official leave awaiting posting to a new station in another county which has not yet been disclosed.
Athi River residents applauded Matu for the promotion stating he deserved it.
They said Matu was a dedicated officer who served in his position with lots of dedication and professionalism.
Matu was among those injured in Mavoko NASA anti-elections demos during the October 26, 2017 presidential repeat elections.
Two people were shot dead while several others sustained bullet injuries during the incident that occurred in Athi River town, Machakos County.
Matu was hit with a stone on the right eye.
Andrew Odhiambo, Mlolongo businessman said the officer deserves more promotion.
Odhiambo said he is a role model for other officers serving in the area to emulate.
