Athi River fire victims have reasons to smile again after receiving donations from local administrators and Non-Governmental Organizations ( NGO).

The two hundred fire victims received different items from a chief and his three assistants as they try to leave with the pain they suffered during the horrific incident. The victims were left without a place they can call home after a mysterious fire razed down their property at Kinanie, Athi River, on September 2.

The victims comprised of Students and support staff of Daystar University, Athi River Campus among other residents living in the area.  The NGO and administrators presented the victims with different items including clothing, shoes, bags and maize flour to enable them to continue with normal life following the tragedy that shook the entire nation.

Doors of Hope programs manager Jacqueline Shibalira, encouraged the victims not to despair during their moment of trial.  She also urged the local residents to support and accommodate the victims as the government looks into the issue.

“You should not lose hope in life, life has to continue,” Shibalira said, as quoted by The Star. Athi River assistant county commissioner James Nyengenye and the four administrators are among those who took part in the exercise.
