Mavoko Council of Elders has crowned Athi River Town MCA, Michael Mutua, as a community elder.
The elders said that Mutua is their point man and he will be speaking on behalf of the Mavoko Sub County.
Speaking on Saturday during the coronation at the MCA's home in Athi River town, elder Peter Kilonzo said Mutua had proven to be an outstanding and fearless leader.
"You are the voice and choice of the people of Mavoko, this is because you have proved it in your leadership,” said Kilonzo adding that Mutua has only been in leadership for two years.
The elders said the MCA has stood with the people in time of need, hence showing leadership abilities.
Kilonzo said the MCA's exemplary leadership qualities have made them think it wise to declare him as Mavoko Sub County leader.
The elders said Mavoko residents were suffering and therefore needed a 'savior' to liberate them from the many challenges facing them. They claimed that some political leaders in the sub county are sleeping in their jobs.
"We now expect Mutua to keep fighting fearlessly as our own, we will be behind him to ensure that justice is done to Mavoko residents," said Kilonzo.
Matungulu Ward's MCA, Magdalene Ndawa, commended Mutua for declaring war on corrupt officers in Machakos County Government.
