Passengers traveling from Athi River to other parts of the country during the festive season have been told to be careful and wary while traveling.
Addressing press in his office yesterday, Athi River Police boss Mutoro Kizito, said the the residents had to be careful whenever they were aboard vehicles due to Al Shabbaab threats in the country.
"All Kenyans especially those traveling from Athi River should be wary of Alshabaaab threats that have hit most parts of the country," said Kizito.
Kizito said that two Alshabaab terrorist suspects had been arrested by detectives in Athi River town few days ago hence argued that it was possible for the calprits to be anywhere in the midist of innocent Kenyans.
He told the residents to cooperate and partner with the police to report cases of suspects or people they thought could be pose threats in public vehicles they were travelling in.
The police boss said all passengers should be properly frisked before boarding public vehicle to ensure safety stating that some robbers pretend to be passengers only to turn to be thugs on the way.
He advised drivers and those who operate public service vehicles to desist from carrying passengers along the way as they never knew what would happen.
