Cases of house vandalism among tenants in Athi River Town, Machakos County is on increase in the reecent past.
This is according to a section of property owners from the town who claimed some tenants had tendencies of vandalising houses they lived before they moved.
Led by their chairperson, Beatrice Waithera, the landlords who spoke to journalists in the town on Thursday said the act caused lots of damage and loses to them.
They alleged the culprits disconnected water pipes, electric cables and appliances whenever they were moving from the houses in which they never lived for long.
Waithera said the tenants comprised mainly of young single men whose occupations were not well known to the landlords and neighbors.
"These people operate in discrete, it is not easy to understand them as most of them operated in abnormal hours, they live their houses very early and returned late," said Waithera.
The property owners have therefore called on their fellow businessmen who own houses in Athi River to be wary of these people and be careful whenever they were admitting new tenants into their premises.
They have vowed to track the culprits, bring them to book and deal with them according to the constitutional provisions.
