A number of teachers from Athi River town are reaping big during the ongoing national teachers strike which has paralysed education in public schools.
An investigation conducted by HiviSasa within the town revealed that majority of the teachers had been contracted by parents to conduct tuition for their children who are candidates in this years national examinations.
"Many teachers from Athi River town send children to photocopy KCPE past papers in this cyber cafe," revealed the operator, Aggrey Shikuku.
Shikuku who works at Hyspid Computer Services within the town said that many children had started visiting the cyber to photocopy past papers as the strike enters the second week.
"We did not get any business to photocopy past papers the whole of last week when the teachers' strike was on, it is only today that we have done more that 2,000 copies since morning," said Shikuku.
According to Shikuku, the teachers are using children to photocopy the papers because they did not want to be seen by both members of the public and their colleagues who have taken the strike more seriously.
"The teachers are helping parents prepare their children for the upcoming KCPE examinations through thorough revision of past papers in their houses," said Shikuku.
He said most of the papers being photocopied are for mathematics subject ranging from the years 1998 to 2013 saying that he is projecting good profit since each copy is Sh3.
