Athi DEO Michael Kiema said they had established that fact in spite of the Kenya National Education Council's failure to rank schools.

Kiema who spoke during Mavoko Constituency Uwezo fund launch in Athi River town Friday, disclosed that the district scored a mean score of 300.10 up from the last year's 293.16.

He said more than 2,000 candidates from the district managed to get 350 marks and above with those below the mark being only 15 candidates.

The district officer attributed the sterling performance to the region's good leadership and support from all the stakeholders.

He said the performance had impressed the national government prompting the treasury, through Education Ministry to allocate the district Sh100 million to support education in public schools within the district.

The information impressed the Mavoko Member of Parliament, Patrick Makau, who said his office, will continue supporting education in the district by offering bursaries to needy children alongside constructing and equipping schools through Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
