The third leg of the Athletics Kenya cross-country meeting will be held in Ol Kalou town on Saturday.
Runners who train in surrounding venues have upped their preparation for the meet which some will use to gauge their preparedness for international meets.
The first leg and second legs were held in Nairobi and Sotik (Bomet County) respectively early this month.
Nyandarua AK chairman, Francis Mwaniki said this weekend’s event will be held in a new venue and not at the usual Nyandarua Technical Training Institute grounds.
“We have moved the event from the institute to a challenging ground next to Ol Kalou stadium and we hope the runners will enjoy the new route,” said Mwaniki.
A spot check revealed runners in serious speed work as they continue training at the high altitude Nyahururu Stadium in readiness for the event. The six-leg cross-country series will culminate in the national-cum-trials for the fifth Africa Cross-Country Championship slated for February next year in Nairobi ahead of the continental event which will be held in Algeria in March. After the Nyandarua event, the series will move to Iten (Elgeyo Marakwet County) next month before moving to Kapsakwony, Mt Elgon in Bungoma in January.
