Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has put on notice athletes from the region practicing doping.
Speaking during the official opening of OSLO petrol station and restaurant which is owned Olympic champion Vivian Cheruiyot, the County boss urged them to use their energy and not drugs.
“I want to call upon athletes from the region to refrain from using drugs instead they should practice and win clean,” said governor Mandago, Saturday.
“My administration will deal with anyone using drugs perpendicularly. We are proud to be a county associated with athletics and we will do all that we can to protect our image,” he added.
Mandago promised to facilitate athletes who want to invest in the county by creating a conducive environment for them.
“I call upon all upcoming athletes to invest instead of using the hard earned money for luxury activities putting in mind that athletics is not a lifetime affair,” he advised.
He also challenged the Athletics Kenya (AK) President, General Jackson Tuwei to use veteran athletes to teach the upcoming athletes on how and the importance of investing for them not to misuse their money.
“Managers and coaches should be transparent and avoid siphoning money from athletes,” he said.
