2012 Boston Marathon winner and former Cherangany MP Wesley Korir has urged athletes to shun doping agents whose intent to ruin their career.

He said doping tarnishes athletes' names when banned from taking part in world events.

“I want to urge young athletes to shun doping completely since is of no good. Just use your sweat and you will go far,” he said in Eldoret town, Tuesday.

“The national government in conjunction with Athletics Kenya must come out clearly to fight the scam, before it portrays a bad image to Kenya’s athletes who have been known to be world beaters,” he added.

Korir urged county and national governments to sponsor youth through investing heavily in sports.

“Through sports, the youth can be employed and live comfortable lives if managed well,” noted Korir.
