Kiambu residents have been urged to participate in the budget making process during a public event slated for Wednesday and Thursday at all sub-county headquarters this week.
According to Kiambu County assembly clerk John Mwivithi Mutie, the budget estimates for the 2015/16 financial year are on the county websites and are available for all the public as they had been notified earlier.
Speaking to the press from the county assembly chambers today, the clerk added that the county assembly budget committee is ready for the exercise commencing tomorrow in Ruiru, Juja, Thika, Gatundu South and North Sub-Counties.
He called on the public to ensure they attend and give their views on the same to avoid demonstrations and protests when the assembly passes the budget as it happened last year.
The clerk also clarified to the public that the budget is different from the Finance bill as earlier in April, the budget meetings were foiled by non-informed people who did not differentiate the bill and the budget.
“Let’s be informed first before we make any protest after the budget passes. This is the budget and we need your views before bringing it back to the assembly for approval,” Mutie said.
All the MCAs will be available in the event in the respective stations to help the residents in making proper decisions according to the clerk.
