Nominated MCA Farida Salim, speaking on Tuesday at Tom-Mboya labour college at an event meant to improve the wellbeing of the residents in terms of health, she challenged the locals to attend the services to help them in knowing their health status.

Farida noted that it is through VCT services that one can know their status, asking locals to get acquainted with their status, as it was important health wise, stating that it helps when one is counseled and tested.

She further noted through testing, cases of infection reduces considerably, since one will be willing to keep him/herself safe if the taste negative, while those who test positive can be referred to appropriate follow up services and their health monitored.

“Let us take an initiative of knowing our status, by seeking voluntary counseling and testing to know our HIV status,” noted salim.

Her counterpart, nominated MCA Caroline Ogot also echoed on the importance of the services, stating that when an individual seeks the services, they are likely to reduce the risk, thereby reducing the risk of onward transmission or becoming infected with other sexually transmitted infections.

Ogot challenged every resident to attend the services in order to know their status to be relieved.

“VCT services are very essential for every resident in proving their HIV status,” said Ogot.
