Kisumu gubernatorial aspirant, senator Prof Anyang' Nyong'o has been criticised, for allegedly engaging in matters that do not uphold political integrity.

The Central Organization of Trade Unions (Cotu) secretary general, Francis Atwoli, slammed the lawmaker, over the just ended ODM primaries, wondering why he did not abide by the party regulations, in ensuring his victory.

Nyong'o who is a strong supporter of Raila Odinga, was facing incumbent governor Jack Ranguma, for the ODM ticket, to vie for the county's top job.

During nominations which saw both leaders declared winners, by different officials, ODM National Elections Board announced Nyong'o as the winner, later on.

The county had parallel tallying stations, in the Tuesday April 25, primaries.

Ranguma was declared the winner by the Deputy Returning Officer Richard Kiyondi at the Aga Khan Hall, while Nyong'o was declared the winner at Thurdibuor Secondary School in Nyakach constituency, by Returning Officer Tom Okongo.

Atwoli slammed Nyong'o saying he should have decided to hide himself in a bush, to count his votes, if he genuinely won.

“You saw my brother, a very good friend of mine, Prof Anyang Nyong’o, he was counting his votes in a bush. Why would you do that? Count your votes where everybody sees them. We should learn to  be democratic,” he said, during Labour Day fete, at Uhuru Park.

Atwoli asked ODM party leader Raila Odinga to ensure democracy in his party, commending how president Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto conducted their Jubilee Party primaries.
