Atwoli said its only dialogue between President Uhuru Kenyatta and the opposition leader Raila Odinga that will cool down the political temperatures being witnessed in the country.

“We appealed for the two leaders to have dialogue even before August elections since we foresaw the current political standoff but we were ignored, the hard-line positions being exhibited by both sides is putting majority of Kenyans and workers in problems should there be any form of violence,” Atwoli said.

He spoke during the burial of former Eldoret based human rights activist Ken Wafula in Likuyani Constituency on Friday.

"Dialogue does not mean Uhuru or Raila will cede their positions, what we need is a stable political environment. Let us put the interest of the country first,” Atwoli said.

Atwoli, however, urged the government through the Communications Authority to lift the ban to shut down three TV stations after airing the swearing-in of Raila Odinga as the People's President.

He termed it illegal, ill-intended and interfering with the media freedom.

“I want to call upon the government to lift the ban with immediate effect since its unconstitutional and bringing us back to the old dark days where we only had one propaganda station, Kenyans are really suffering,” Atwoli said.
