Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary-General Francis Atwoli has come out to deny reports that he asked Kenyans to vote out President Uhuru Kenyatta in the forthcoming 2017 elections.
Atwoli, who is currently in Geneva, Switzerland for an International Labour Organization meeting, distanced himself from the reports doing rounds on social media that he had allegedly called on Kenyans to vote out President Kenyatta.
"Kenyans should know that the reports doing rounds in social media are propaganda. Anyone with an issue with President Kenyatta should tackle it with him directly since Francis Atwoli does not speak through such avenues,” stated Atwoli.
A Facebook page by the name Kenya Political Forum had displayed reports attributed to Mr Atwoli saying that Mr Kenyatta’s re-election would cause Kenyans great harm.
However, Atwoli has said that he has respect for the presidency and would not stoop so low to that effect. Atwoli further stated that the statements were malicious, fallacious and their propagators were hiding behind parody accounts.
