Cotu secretary general Francis Atwoli has explained why he prefers men to marry many women.

In an interview with the Standard newspaper dated September, Atwoli explained that globally women are many than men. 

He stated that if men confined themselves to marrying one woman then a majority of ladies will remain single. 

"I am encouraging my sons to marry more than three wives so that we can reduce the population of unmarried women,” said Atwoli. 

He further cautioned that it was a taboo for a woman to be buried at her place of birth. 

"It is a taboo in our community to bury our daughters where they were born, they must be buried somewhere,” added Atwoli.
