Central Organization of Trade Unions(COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has hit out at the National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale for having malicious plot to remove him from the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) board.
The conflict started on Friday when Duale asked Ukur Yattani (the Cabinet Secretary nominee for Labor) if he would consider firing Atwoli and Federation of Kenya Employers Director Jacqueline Mugo from the NSSF board since they have already served for six years.
In his response, Yattani said that he will ensure the two are removed as the board members if he clinches the cabinet slot for not following the Constitution.
Atwoli, however, noted that Duale's remarks were incorrect and meant to destabilise the board.
"Duale only relied on rumors to affirm his statement which is dubious and this shows how the government is on the verge of having itself directly controlling NSSF affairs," Atwoli stated.
Former Labor Cabinet Secretary Kazungu Kambi in 2013 sent home the two but they moved to court and were reinstated to the board.
