Central Organization of Trade unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has asked the Luhya Nation to forgive him for endorsing ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi as the Luhya spokesperson.
Atwoli who was speaking during the funeral service of the late human rights activist Ken Wafula in Likuyani, Kakamega county registered his disappointment by Musalia Mudavadi failing to appear at the ‘swearing in’ ceremony of Raila Odinga held on 30th January at Uhuru Park.
“I am asking you to forgive me after I endorsed Mudavadi as the community spokesman in December 2016,” he said.
“I want to register my disappointment and displeasure with Mudavadi. At no time will I ever support him,” Atwoli added.
Atwoli labelled Mudavadi a coward who does not deserve to be President in future.
“A person who aspires to be president should not be afraid of anything. We expected him to rally behind Odinga but he chickened out.
“If Mudavadi knew that he was going to skip the event, he should have said so early instead of going into hiding on Tuesday,” Atwoli told a charged crowd.
Senate Minority leader Moses Wetangula who also attended the funeral told mourners that the decision to skip the ‘swearing in ’ was a ‘tactical’ move.
“We are going to swear in Kalonzo Musyoka soon. We are not fools. Our mission is to liberate Kenya,” Wetangula said.
