Mombasa County KNUT Secretary Dan Aloo has fronted COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli as the right person who would properly head the labor ministry in the country.
Aloo said that Atwoli had workers matters at heart and would work hard to ensure that workers rights in the country are protected and respected.
Speaking at Jomvu Aloo said that the country has witnessed various industrial actions which needed a person who would seek solutions even before workers down their tools.
According to Aloo, the many industrial actions in the Country portrays negative picture to the world and he blamed the government for not taking the plight of its employees seriously.
“Though teachers issues were solved, the perennial doctors and nurses strike must be completely solved these are professionals who need better pay,” he insisted.
Aloo, a politician who vied for Jomvu parliamentary seat but lost to Badi Twalib said that Labor ministry needed a very serious and active leader who understood plights of workers both in public service and in private sector.
The Labor ministry is currently headed by Phyllis Kandie.
Meanwhile, Aloo has called on the ministry of health to work with the county governments and solve the nurse's strike which is in its fourth month now.
“Our nurses spent a lot of money to gain the knowledge and became professionals, why are we paying politicians millions, forgetting nurses and teachers?” he posed.
He said that whoever wins the 17th presidential rematch between NASA’s presidential candidate Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta should nominate the Central Trade Organization’s Secretary general Francis Atwoli as the Labor cabinet secretary.
