The Central Organisation of Trade Unions (Cotu) secretary general Francis Atwoli has said Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho will be re-elected come August 8.
Speaking on Wednesday night during an interview on Citizen TV, Atwoli said Joho will win the polls with an overwhelming majority, noting that he’s been tried and tested.Joho is facing stiff competition from Suleiman Shahbal of Jubilee Party, Hassan Omar (Wiper Party) and Hezron Awiti of Vibrant Democratic Party in the forthcoming general election. The union boss lauded Joho as a brave and vocal politician who speaks his mind, adding that these are the type of leaders he likes. He said the governor is now the spokesman for the Coast region replacing Sharif Nassir and Ronald Ngala (both deceased) and others.“When I said Joho will control the Coast region, people dismissed me…..We want someone who is brave, who can say what he wants because these are the freedoms we fought for,” said Atwoli. He likened Joho to US President Donald Trump whom he noted speaks his mind no matter what.“I like somebody who is himself like Trump who says what he wants not that he should be vetted or gagged,” concluded Atwoli.
