Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli now wants President Uhuru Kenyatta to apologise to Chief Justice David Maraga and other Supreme Court judges for attacking them after they made a ruling which nullified his re-election.

According to Atwoli, the President disrespected the judges by referring to them as 'crooks' (wakora) moments after they delivered the now worldwide popular judgement.

"He (Uhuru) has insulted Chief Justice Maraga who is almost the age of his father. As little children, we were taught to respect the elders at all times. That is why I think President Kenyatta must apologise to the Supreme Court judges. If he fails to do so, Kenyans will be electing the wrong President," said Atwoli addressing journalists at a Nairobi hotel.

President Kenyatta of Jubilee Party will face off NASA's candidate Raila Odinga in a repeat election slated for next month.

The workers union boss also asked legislators Kipchumba Murkomen and Aden Duale to refrain from intimidating and ridiculing the officials at the Judiciary.

"These are very young politicians who are still building their careers. If they want to be respected as national figures they must stop cheap politics and must learn how to handle frustrations," Atwoli added.
