According to the COTU boss, the handshake will bring harmony between the union and government, something he argued will promote growth in the country.

Speaking during a COTU-K  meeting at COTU headquarters, Mr. Atwoli said that lack of peace can easily drag a country in terms of economy.

However, with peace in a country, it is easy to achieve both political-economic stability.

Therefore, Raila's handshakes will make this possible.

With Raila's handshake which he argued that has since brought peace and rise in economic growth in the country, he urged the ODM leader to come and extend more handshakes in the presence of President Uhuru on Labour Day.

"We want baba to come to us as well. People could be wondering why Atwoli prefers people to shake hands all the time. You can only develop with a stable economy and a stable political situation. So handshake is one important thing to many," said Mr. Atwoli.

Mr. Atwoli confirmed that Raila will grace Labour Day celebration and in fact was the first one to confirm his presence.

"Former Prime Minister was even the first one to confirm his coming to be with us on Labour Day celebration. Because if he will be their giving handshakes even the president who will be the chief guest will also be there," added Mr. Atwoli.

Saturday's meeting was meant to prepare for the Labour Day celebration that will take centre stage on the 1st of May at Uhuru Park. The celebration is expected to attract so many delegates as had promised by Mr. Atwoli.
