Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli has revealed the presidential candidates he has voted for since 1969.

Speaking at a press conference in Nairobi, the Cotu man said he voted for President Uhuru Kenyatta in the last two general elections.

Atwolis revelation will come as a shocker to political pundits since he was part of the team that brought together leaders from the Luhya community to join NASA, Uhuru's strong competitors.

He also said he voted for Mzee Jomo Kenyatta through out his lifetime and then retired president Daniel Moi before turning to vote for Mwai Kibaki in the 2002 and 2007 elections.

"Some of us were born voters. We will come and vote for you. We have no alternative. We will come and vote for you," he stressed.

"I voted for President Uhuru's father in 1969, I've been voting for President Moi throughout, I voted for Kibaki throughout. And I've been voting for Uhuru and my children will continue to vote like that," he said.

In December 2016, Atwoli brokered talks that saw NASA founder Musalia Mudavadi declared the Luhya spokesperson.

While unveiling Mudavadi at the Masinde Muliro grounds in Kakamega, Atwoli said that every Luhya person was to follow the direction that the ANC party leader showed them.
