Cotu Secretary-General Francis Atwoli has opposed the cancellation of a tender to procure IEBC ballot papers.
Speaking at Tom Mboya Labour College in Kisumu, Atwoli argued that the decision by the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board would only interfere with election deadlines already set by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
"Courts must understand the situation and the political environment the country is in. They are behaving as if they live on the moon," Atwoli said.
This comes after the board on Friday decided that the Sh2.5 billion tender for the printing and supply of IEBC election materials was unscrupulously awarded without following the laid-down procedure.
The board made this ruling after a company, Rosecate Promotions & Supplies Limited, moved to challenge the tender process.
In its papers to the board, the company claimed that IEBC had given companies less than thirty days to participate in the process, something they said was in contravention to the law.
