Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU)Secretary General Francis Atwoli has said that President Uhuru Kenyatta can run the country without the support of Deputy President William Ruto.
Speaking on Tuesday, Atwoli said Kenyatta doesn't need Deputy President William Ruto or any other person once he aligned himself with Raila Odinga.
Atwoli stated that Odinga commanded a huge following in the country and the president should not pay attention to nay-sayers.
"Raila is in his own league and when I tell people, they don't believe me. Wherever he goes, he is one of the terrible organizers we have in this country. The president should heed my advice. Let his aides tell him, that when you are with Raila Odinga, you do not need any support in Kenya because he has suicidal supporters from Nyanza and across the country,"Atwolis stated.
Atwoli who was on record previously calling for dialogue between the two leaders said that he was optimistic that the unity deal will bear fruits.
"Today I am a happy man that (Uhuru meeting Raila to bring peace) has come to pass and that is where we are today. When I started to say the two should dialogue people said I was mad. Now there is peace in the country. Our economy is on upwards trend," he added.
He was speaking on Tuesday during the Labour Day celebrations.
