COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli has claimed that the government of having hatched a plot to kick him out as the workers’ and employers’ representatives from the board of trustees of the NSSF.
In a statement, Atwoli said that the political interference will force a joint scheme that will be ruined with the help of the FKE.
"The joint pension scheme will be run without the contributions of politicians. No one canassume that this scheme will render the NSSF Act impotent," said Atwoli.
Atwoli suggested that the move appeared to target him and Federation of Kenya Employees Executive Director Jacqueline Mugo.
The plan by the government is alleged to be executed through proposed amendments tothe NSSF Act, 2013.
“If you read the report from Ernst & Young Forensic Auditors that is in our possession, those who were involved in Hazina Towers and other shoddy projects when COTU and FKE had been removed between 2013 and 2015, should be arrested and arraigned as credible evidence is available," Atwoli stated.
He called for consultations before any changes are made.
